About Me

Coaching since 2009, I feel I’ve developed a way of explaining the intricacies of the golf swing and the techniques required to successfully manage your way around a golf course.

This approach puts golfers at their ease and frees them up to learn and develop.

From as early as I can remember or indeed as early as I could walk, a golf club has never been far from my hand. Coming from a golfing family with my Gran, Mum and Dad all very competent players there was no shortage of opportunities to get out into the course!

My Journey

Starting out at Duns Golf Club I progressed through the ranks, capturing success at Duns Junior Championships & County level before picking up back to back Men’s Club Championships. I turned Professional and began my PGA training at Eyemouth Golf Club in 2009.

In 2011 I became a fully qualified PGA Professional. In 2016 I took over as Club Professional at Hirsel Golf Club. Then in 2022 I achieved my Advanced PGA Professional accreditation.

In January 2024 I made the decision to focus on coaching full-time. I upgraded my custom built golf studio at Putton Mill Driving Range, near Duns. Shortly afterwards I started regular coaching at Goswick Golf Club, south of Berwick-upon-Tweed. I now offer 1-1 and group golf lessons five days a week, with my schedule often booked out three weeks in advance.

Playing

My professional playing career highlights are winning the Insch Pro-Am in 2011 followed by seven Top 5 finishes in subsequent years, most notably a 3rd place in the 2016 Deer Park Masters (-5).

Fast forward to 2022, and despite the lack of golf and my only PGA Event in 2 years, I managed to put a round of -5 together to win the Matfen Hall PGA Pro-Am.

Despite a lack of time, I feel it’s important that I continue to play and push my own game, whether it’s competitively, socially or during playing lessons.

Today

I now like to think that I have built up my coaching knowledge and qualifications to help deliver an easy to understand style of teaching that makes the whole coaching experience both enjoyable and effective for all level of golfers.

I strive to create an environment and relationship with golfers that facilitates their development and enjoyment both on and off the golf course. I have experience of helping hundreds of golfers to improve and achieve their goals and would love to help you unlock your potential.

Finally, I have a passion for helping junior golfers develop as players and characters. Being part of their journey is very rewarding for me. I have been fortunate enough to work with some very talented juniors who have gone on to do some fantastic things in golf – a 14 year old winning the Men’s Club Championship; setting course records; being capped for Scotland; as well as 3 players crossing the pond on golf scholarships and going on to win national titles.
